Klarvy – a Productivity Tool

I built Klarvy because I wanted a productivity app to replace my old-school spiral notebook and improve my task lists.

Historically, I would take notes by hand and star TO DO items. The problem: the old spiral notebook wasn’t searchable. I was frequently flipping pages back in time trying to find when I last spoke to a person and remind myself of what we discussed. I’m sure this is relatable.

I looked for a better tool but found most productivity apps were either too simplistic or overly complicated. I didn’t want another login. I didn’t want another username and password. I didn’t want my private data in the cloud. And I didn’t want a monthly recurring fee. I just wanted a responsive app with a clean design that accomplished the mission and ignored all the extras.

So, I built exactly what I wanted… a tool to take notes (in meetings, about ideas, or just to journal), associate them with people and projects, and record related tasks.

I began using the app myself and found real productivity. But it really crossed into new territory with the addition of Klarvy Advisor, a personal AI Board of Directors for your career and life, to help ensure your time allocation aligns with your broader goals of the person you wish to become.

A lot of iterations went into this. In fact, I will never gain in productivity the hours I have spent creating Klarvy… but my hope is that you will… which is why I am offering it for free to anyone interested.

No cloud account. No login. No monthly fee. No upsell. Just a free tool from me to you.

Hopefully you find it useful too. If so, drop me a quick email to let me know.

(see instructions and disclaimers below)

What you need: A Windows PC. That’s it. No account activation. No login. No subscription. The app runs fully offline, only on your computer, with your data stored locally.

  1. Go to the Klarvy website.
  2. Enter your name and email to unlock the download. (I won’t spam you… just want to know who is downloading it).
  3. Click the download button to get KlarvyAdvisorSetup_2.5.exe (about 83.5MB).
  4. Once downloaded, double-click KlarvyAdvisorSetup_2.5.exe to install the app.
  5. If Windows shows a security warning (“Windows protected your PC”), click More infoRun anyway. This appears because the app isn’t code-signed, not because it’s unsafe.
  6. Follow the install wizard prompts (choose install location if asked, then click through to finish).
  7. Once installation completes, launch Klarvy from the desktop shortcut or Start menu. (I suggest you right-click on the Klarvy.exe file and select “Pin to Start”).

To backup your data: Go to the menu (☰ top right) → Global → Export. Save the file somewhere safe, preferably in a folder where you have persistent backups. Also, the app saves your data every time you close it. But note, it does not save continuously (hey, it’s free). You can use ctrl-s on your keyboard to save your Klarvy data anytime.

To restore or move your data: Go to the menu (☰ top right) → Global → Import, and select your backup file.

DISCLAIMORS:

  • Is there customer support? No. Well, maybe, if we are friends. 🙂
  • If Klarvy loses my data, can I sue Andy? No. By downloading, you acknowledge that you are using Klarvy completely at your own risk.
